Update on Updates

The cruise portion of Reunion 2009 is set to kick off in just a few hours and already, there's a lot of excitement in the air with folks arriving today and others making their way tomorrow. Make sure you stay tuned to the @09reunion Twitter feed for updates throughout the event, starting on Sunday. We’ll be pushing out news and feedback from the events as well as whatever other interesting tidbits we come across as we monitor the conversation among the attendees. We will announce times and other details for any events that will be broadcast live, in addition to fun we'll be having.

Reunion 2009 set to begin!

We've eclipsed 200 registrations for Reunion 2009 and we are just days away from the kickoff to this highly anticipated event. Starting on Sunday, some of us will embark on the Disney Wonder for a 4 night cruise to get things started. Even if you aren't planning on being on the cruise, you can still join in the Reunion 2009 fun...virtually! We are planning a number of events that should be broadcast over Mouse World Radio. These events include...

  • Live Show from Nassau, Bahamas - Dec 7 @ 2pm Eastern
  • Who Wants to Earn Their Ears - Dec 9 @ 1:30pm Eastern
  • Town Hall Meeting - Dec 9 @ 3pm Eastern

In addition to these shows, we will be broadcasting live periodically, with fair warning coming to the Reunion Twitter account. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to be aware of any events we happen to broadcast live. As always, we will have recordings of everything we broadcast for you to (re)listen to anytime.

Reunion Cruise Events Posted

Better late than never, but we've posted the schedule of events for the Disney Cruise Line portion of Reunion 2009. There are some new events on the schedule as well as some others that we've had a lot of fun doing before. Like the events on land, you are welcome to join us for any and all of the events on the schedule and we have some lofty expectations for them.

For those who cannot join us on the Cruise Line portion, we will attempt to broadcast our events live over Mouse World Radio during the events. Emphasis on attempt, since the internet onboard a cruise ship can be flaky so no promises. The good news is there will be a live show from Nassau, Bahamas where we are reasonably sure the internet will work.

Follow Reunion on Twitter

If you are planning on being a part of Reunion 2009, then you ought to ensure you stay on top of whatever changes occur by following Reunion on Twitter. You can find Reunion on Twitter at http://twitter.com/09reunion and follow any and all changes there. This will be especially important during Reunion if anything should change or be announced at the last minute (like Len paying for dinner at Ohana!).

You're invited (seriously)

One of the most common questions I've had to answer about Reunion 2009 is if someone is booked using DVC points or booked with another travel agent or booked on their own, can they still attend our events. The definitive answer is yes! It's no secret that Mouse Fan Travel is the official travel agent of Reunion, but certainly there are plenty of instances where you may need to book without their services (Disney Vacation Club is a great example) and we want everyone to know you are more than welcome to still join us for our events. We want to make sure Reunion is an event where everyone feels welcome to participate.

The other big question is still "what about Monday?". The answer to that question isn't as clear. Thus far, still no consensus on what we will do. Because we want Reunion to be fun and relaxing, we're considering leaving Monday as an "open day", where as we go through Reunion, some of us as a group feel some of us want to re-ride something while others may want to check something else and so Monday could end up being a free-for-all (and that's a good thing). I'll open up comments for any additional thoughts on the matter, as we have been known to be off our rocker from time to time.

Over 150 people registered!

We are now well over 150 people registered to be a part of Reunion 2009 and the list continues to grow. It's pretty exciting planning events for everyone who will be a part of the fun and with Reunion, we wanted to ensure that we have fun without having to "burn the candle at both ends". If you've been to previous fan events like this, you may recall waking up early and going all day and night and repeating and we wanted to ensure that you could enjoy our events without feeling like a zombie at some point. We've received lots of great ideas for meets and we'd love to do many of them, but we purposefully kept the schedule light so we don't burn out everyone after a day or two.

The tickets for the Great American Adventure Podcast event sold out in just two days and we are taking names for the waiting list, if you are interested. If you couldn't get a ticket, unfortunately we can't increase the amount of tickets even if we wanted to because Disney has a hard limit on the number of people who can be in the venue we've rented so it's out of our hands. The good news is that there is just one event there that requires a ticket and the rest are freely open to the everyone!

One last note about the events and who will be attending. We've tried to create a diverse array of meets for everyone to attend and we certainly don't expect everyone to attend every single meet. Likewise, there may be some meets where one or two panelists cannot attend but we wanted to reassure everyone that there will be ample opportunity to meet everyone through out the weekend.

A few tickets available for the American Adventure podcast show

Tickets went on sale Saturday to those who booked room packages with MEI-Mouse Fan Travel and we have a few tickets left over for the general public for sale. These tickets are for a meet with us inside a private room at the American Adventure Pavilion at Epcot on December 11. We plan to record an episode of the show – and you can be a part of the live audience!

If you want tickets, act fast (as in now!) and buy tickets by clicking here now!

Update: We are sold out! If you would like to be added to the wait list please send an email with your name and number of attendees to reunion@mei-travel.com. You will be notified if tickets become available.

Visit the AllEars team

Reunion 2009 isn't just about one group, rather, it's about bringing Disney World fans from many different facets of the Internet together and our good friends at AllEars are hosting some meets that you might be interested in. They've already been added to the Schedule but here's a quick rundown.

  • Dr. Scopa's Special Dole Whip Meet at Aloha Isle - December 10 - 3pm
  • Group Wishes Meet - December 10 - 7:30pm
  • AllEars Meet and Greet with special Hidden Mickey Photo Scavenger Hunt - December 12 - 9:30am

What about Monday?

By now many of those who are planning to come to Reunion 2009 have noticed that we don't have any events schedule for Monday, December 14 and it's not an oversight by us. Frankly, we haven't planned anything yet because that Monday is going to be an odd day.

What makes that Monday different from all other days is that we suspect many folks will be back home by Monday, so it's kind of the "outlier" of days. We don't want to schedule some mega amazing event that day because many wont be able to make it, but on the other hand, there will still be plenty of you around and all those folks deserve an event too.

So in situations like this, I turn to those who are in attendance and ask for suggestions for meets. We've admitted many times on the air that we aren't the smartest people out there (minus Len, of course) and so I'm betting there are some good ideas for meets we've overlooked. So here's your chance to be our meet planner and suggest an idea or two for December 14. Please post in the comments here your thoughts and read others' ideas as well. Who knows... we may just pick your idea to be an event!
